"An injury to one is an injury to all"

Federal Labor in 2025

17 DECEMBER 2025
The year was a trying one for everyone at USACE. The attacks on federal workers took a huge physical and mental toll on all of us. Executive Orders, Policy Changes, and  disastrous budgetary decisions designed to make life miserable for the federal workforce was not stopped by management. As a result, USACE employees were illegally forced to return to office, stripped of bargaining rights, and subject to budget cuts fueled by political reasons, not those with the public interest in mind.

However, IFPTE Local 98 members have shown that they were willing to stand up for each other and the public they serve. Despite attacks on our bargaining rights, union members took bold collective actions that reminded management that issues such as telework, workplace safety, and benefits are not going to go away quietly. We sent petitions, marched on the boss, and led boycotts that effectively sent the message that morale was cratering under their leadership. We collaborated with other federal sector unions across the nation on strategies to push management to look over their workers and prioritize the public service.

At a local level, we pushed back against ICE Operations on our property, pushed NAD management to give more town halls and telework during the government shutdown, and pushed all management to reconsider existing safety policies.  At a national level, we restored bargaining rights, saved the retirement benefits from a disastrous cut, protected appeal rights, and prevented Reductions-in-Force from becoming permanent. Now after a crazy year, cracks are forming in the anti-labor efforts by the White House while the labor movement is creating meaningful coalitions and effectively fighting back.

Recently, NAN management has had productive good-faith discussions with Union representatives once again. This is a major win after nearly a year of being shut out of conversations and being told that nothing can be done. While we have a lot of ground left to cover, we look forward to the future where . We thank everyone in the Union for showing that all labor has dignity, workers have power, and that we are stronger together.

If you haven't signed up for e-dues yet but want to remain a dues-paying member of the Union, sign up through Zeffy. We also alternatively take yearly dues in cash and check for 5% off.

Solidarity,
