In September of 2019, it was announced that within a couple months, Army Corps staff would no longer be allowed to access the Health Unit on the 1st floor of 26 Federal Plaza. For years, District staff have relied on the facilities and staff for a wide range of health services, including seasonal vaccines, blood pressure tests, urgent care, breast-pumping and much more. By November, union officials were assured by management that these terminated services would be replaced in-kind by a private contractor.
Since then, despite that the importance of such services has grown with the arrival of the COVID19 pandemic, the District has yet to restore the missing services. This is a top priority of IFPTE Local 98 and we are currently collecting testimonials from members about the importance of the First Floor Health Unit.
