Advocacy + Community
The IFPTE Local 98 is the union of USACE Federal Employees based out of the USACE New York District. Our purpose is to ensure we, the employees at USACE, have a voice in the policies that impact our work and profession, as well as ensuring the Corps continues to be a benefit to the American people.
We are a local affiliate of the IFPTE, along with all other USACE locations throughout the country. Working together with other federal IFPTE local affiliates we are able to network, learn, and advocate together regarding our working conditions, USACE policies, and other important issues that impact federal employees. |
CollaborationPartnering with management, we can negotiate and improve our conditions, thereby simplifying processes and ensuring equitable, efficient resolution of issues. As well, we can work together to resolve issues that impede organizational goals.
|
Legal StandingUnlike an association, we have legal standing since we, the employees, have collective bargaining rights. Which means, work together, can negotiate policies that impact and improve our working conditions and careers.
|
MembersMembership is critical to everything we do. We are run by and for our members, who are USACE federal employees. As members, we see the value of collaboration, discussion, and democracy in order to resolves challenges.

About IFPTEThe International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) is a non-profit, employee based organization made up of several autonomous affiliates and was founded in 1918. IFPTE advocates on behalf of more than 80,000 women and men, primarily in professional and technical positions, including all engineering disciplines, along with a wide variety of scientific and research professions, lawyers, administrative judges, and economists all within the private, public, and federal sectors.
IFPTE has been a great resource over the years, providing us with best practices, legal, and guidance on a variety of issues. They also provide us access to a network of other organized professionals in related fields and occupations, including other USACE IFPTE Locals throughout the country. |
